The mission of Pieffe Disegni is to design industrial solutions that do not yet exist, tailored to the needs of each customer and their production.
Our method is based on the search for ongoing dialogue with the customer’s technical personnel, and on our willingness to provide constant collaboration, in order to develop machines and applications that fully and most effectively meet the needs for which they need to be built.
The most recent design challenges that have involved us, include a milling machine for machining titanium alloys, also intended for use in the aerospace sector.
In such areas, absolute precision is crucial: even the slightest error can jeopardize projects of significant strategic importance, investments of several tens of millions of euros and, the most invaluable thing, the lives of the astronauts involved in exploration and research missions.
As part of the construction of a large, highly customized automatic milling machine, the customer, Jobs Automazione Spa, asked us to construct the pallet change automation system.
The challenge was to succeed in planning and designing a particular rotary table of modest dimensions, while maintaining very high levels of performance in terms of torque and stiffness that can generally be ensured by larger and more robust models.
In close and constant collaboration with Dante Agosti, Technical Director of Jobs Automazione Spa, we first identified the need; in the next phase we moved on to the realization of several preliminary projects in order to accurately contextualize the design path to pursue, according to the specificity of the request and the machine within which the solution we designed would be used.
In the discussions, we also wanted to involve and listen to personnel working closely with the machine on a daily basis, so as to be able to integrate some details capable of making it easier for the operators to provide support for and monitor the correct operation.
The choice of materials was of primary importance in this project, which required us to push the performance of all the various components and elements to the maximum in order to obtain results capable of combining high performance with small dimensions. In this sense, the FEM analysis that we carried out, thanks to the software available to us, coupled with the technical skills and the vast experience gained over many years of activity, allowed us to achieve adequate sizing for the entire structure we designed.
Despite the complexity of the challenge that we faced, the results that were achieved are extremely satisfying. Moreover, seeing the elements that we designed, now in operation in such a “flagship” milling machine for Jobs Automazione Spa, as the TRT1000 model, is truly gratifying.
Another design challenge won by the Pieffe Disegni staff!
