In 2022, one of our clients approached Pieffe Disegni with a request to build a machine that could handle heat-stitching of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). PVC is commonly used to manufacture inflatable toys for children, which require strong and durable seams.
Initially, our team focused on designing a machine that could meet the specific needs of the client while ensuring that the structure was robust enough to handle the task at hand. However, during discussions with the client, we discovered an additional issue that needed to be addressed: keeping the sewing parts aligned during operation.
Typically, fabric sliding systems rely on casters to move the fabric, which can lead to misalignments and deviations. Therefore, it was important to ensure that the machine was capable of maintaining continuous alignment to achieve the desired results.
To address this challenge, Pieffe Disegni introduced an adaptive element on the bottom plane that reacts to deformations, resulting in improved alignment during operation. This solution was integrated into the design of the machine, which allowed the customer to carry out the stitching process with full automation, minimizing the need for operator intervention.
By addressing the critical issue of misalignment, we not only improved the efficiency and safety of the machine, but we also achieved a comparable level of quality to much more complex and expensive machinery.
At Pieffe Disegni, we pride ourselves on our technical expertise and our ability to work closely with our clients to develop innovative solutions that meet their specific needs. This project is just one example of our commitment to excellence in engineering and design.
